Visual Flight Model 1.58 & P3D loss of animation (control surfaces) RESOLVED

Post by willow »

Greetings

The control surfaces do not move in the visual model (1.58): flaps, speedbrake, reverse cowls, ailerons, elevators, etc. The actual controls operate perfectly, but there is no corresponding visual movement.

Went back to 1.56 and everything moves perfectly.

Livery in use is KLM,

Is there a problem with visual flight model 1.58 ?

I may have missed something (in the forum).

Others should have this issue, unless it is something I have done....

Regards, WilloW ✈️

I am using the 2022 flight model, so it should work OK.

If others are NOT having an issue then it must be something I have done during the download and setup, WilloW

I am using MSFS 2020 all the time now so I thought I may be wrong as when I checked, the V1.58 is the latest model. Sorry. :D
Kind Regards

Hi Willow,

Yesterday, I was reinstalling ProSim and P3D v5, the flight model 1.58 and the P3D module 2.05 after I reinstalled Windows and I experienced the same problem.

I didn't had enough time to do further testing, as I also needed to delete all the assignments in P3D and still need to make some other adjustments in ProSIm before I can do further tests.
Need to check this in a few days.

I noticed that for example the rudder was deflected completely to the left when ProSim was not running, but it centered once ProSim was started, so maybe it's ok in my setup, but as said, I can only test it in a few days.

At the moment, I use ProSim v3.21b17

I also have the same issue. However, I am using MSFS and the problem started when I updated to v1.11. Using Prosim 3.20. No deflection of any flight control surfaces.

Hi, make sure you have the MODULE installed. All kinematics are now directly controlled by prosim.

In my case, I have P3d v5.3HF2 and I updated to the new 2022 version of the aircraft (and the hot fix) when it came out. I also install every new beta of Prosim.
It is a nice flying model.
The aircraft control surfaces work smoothly for me (including the spoiler) and the doors work, but the spoilers do not show that they are deployed on landing.
I then found I didn't have any lights.
I have tried everything to fix the lights but haven't been successful. I uninstalled the Module, then re-installed. Downloaded a new Module file, re-installed. Turned it off and on, in the Add-ins. Still no lights.
I thought that if the surfaces, doors and lights were all controlled by the Module then I would have them?

Any ideas?

Greetings

Everything has been installed correctly including the module (VFM 1.58 & module).

I found the issue.

It appears that P3d had saved a scenario (s) at some point. After installing the software P3d was opening the saved scenario. The problem was that the scenario had saved itself with the engines not running. This resulted in the ProSim main menu not connecting correctly. When I did finally notice this and removed the scenario, ProSim connected flawlessly and all animation and lights operated perfectly.

I have a suspicion that there was something else happening as well - as initially the problem presented as the animations not working and had nothing to do with ProSim not connecting correctly. Whatever it was, removing all saved scenarios appears to have resolved the issue (3 flights).

The way I resolved the issue was to remove all the P3d saved scenarios and set up new ones.

Another observation I noted was the the animations failed to work when ProSim was opened before P3d. If I opened P3d first and then opened ProSim the animations moved correctly. I have no idea is this is related to my setup or is more general.

Thanks to those that chimed in :)

WilloW

PS: By the way, I removed the old modules and flight models and now ONLY have VFM1.58 and the latest module installed (P3d v4.5).

I have noticed loss of control surface animation in MSFS2020 for converted aircraft using the new flight model v1.11,

Its an observation but to solve this its important that you include in each livery code section in the aircraft.cfg file at the Title= 'string text' the text 2022 .

Eg. Title="Prosim_B738 2022 Korean Air"
(it must have 2022 in the title string.)

also probably not important but I note that the following line has been added to each livery code section as well
canBeUsedByAITraffic=1

Regarding the param canBeUsedByAITraffic
If this is set to TRUE (1) the aircraft will appear in AI Offline AirTraffic and/or in Parked Aircraft. If set to FALSE (0) then it won't be used for these things. The default value is TRUE (1).

Again for MSFS2020 and also true for P3D, always start the flight sim first and start up at the departure airport and then when at the parking spot launch the prosim software. Dont launch prosim before launching the flight sim. You need to have power on the electrical bus for the control surfaces to work as well, so connect to the ground cart, battery, APU, etc

Cheers
David
