Burned Pokeys relay card. New card with Prosim?

Post by Sudden81 »

Hello everybody!

Probably I burned my Pokeys Relay card because of a cable that got stuck in the gear handle. Not a hundred percent shore yet, but I'm pretty sure the relay card is burned.

The symptoms are as follows: None of the relays turn on or off neither with the prosim software or the Pokey software. Approximately half of the relay outputs light up steadily.

The question is, can I buy Pokey's new relay card and connect the cards with canbus or pobus or something like that, does prosim support it?

This is the card: https://www.poscope.com/product/porelay8/

The manual for the card: https://www.poscope.com/wp-content/uplo ... anual.pdf
Or is the only way to buy such a card that I have?

See link below:

https://www.poscope.com/product/poextbusre/

Manul: https://www.poscope.com/wp-content/uplo ... anual.pdf

Another question I have is whether Prosim supports the PoExtBus now?

Thanks in advance

I also found this card:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/8-Channel-5V-R ... 0005.m1851

And probably this manual: http://www.handsontec.com/dataspecs/mod ... -relay.pdf

But it also say this:

It is sometimes possible to use this relay boards with 3.3V signals, if the JD-VCC (Relay Power) is provided
from a +5V supply and the VCC to JD-VCC jumper is removed. That 5V relay supply could be totally
isolated from the 3.3V device, or have a common ground if opto-isolation is not needed. If used with
isolated 3.3V signals, VCC (To the input of the opto-isolator, next to the IN pins) should be connected to the
3.3V device's +3.3V supply.
NOTE: Some Raspberry-Pi users have found that some relays are reliable and others do not actuate
sometimes. It may be necessary to change the value of R1 from 1000 ohms to something like 220 ohms, or
supply +5V to the VCC connection.

My thoughts is that this could work with pokeys?

There is no support in ProSim for the PoExtBus.

I have some very reliable and tested relay boards in my webshop http://www.flightsimparts.eu/shop_electronics.htm
Very cheap but quality boards.

But you don't have 8 relay cards?

So you can't say anything about the one I linked to?

The thing is that all the pcbs in my mip hav a specific mounting!

I need 5 relays at this moment!

Best regards Jacob

According to your relay board's manual, each channel needs 15-20mA to engage.

Pokeys is rated at 4mA per output. Not compatible.

Hi Jacob,

I am not sure it will help you but I am also using the Pokeys Relay card. I needed it to “pop” real circuit breakers on the A320 overhead panel. Since ProSim does not support these card I wrote a small program that interfaces the relay cards to FSUIPC offsets.
It has the following limitations:

1) It only works with one Pokeys USB card
2) It can control up to 2 relay cards, because there is (was?) a bug on the Pokeys library
3) It can only read Pokeys inputs from the Pokeys 57U via FSUIPC
4) You cannot run it simultaneously with the ProSim Pokeys driver, because the library is not reentrant.

If you want a copy of the program let me know.

Best regards,

Realy nice of you Pim, I will hold on for now. I want to get things to work as simple as possible with Prosim, I most use FDS, Pololu, Pokeys.

If you know of any other relay card that can be driven with Pokeys card for a good price with 8 relays I am interested. I am leaning to Wendys cards.

Best regards!

Or is it posible to change the component that is broken on the PCB?

The black circuit with text on.

Or is that programmed?
